Producing Michael Portnoy’s GOING
Butcher Bird Studios is proud to have produced Michael Portnoy‘s new absurdist short film GOING, which premiered in December 2021 at V-A-C Foundation’s new arts space GES-2 in Moscow and continues to tour.

This innovative and comedic abstraction on how people use the bathroom is a follow up to Portnoy’s gleefully shocking 2019 short film Progressive Touch, an abstract exploration of the way people experience sex.
The film stars Portnoy alongside musician/comedian Reggie Watts (“Late Late Show with James Corden”), Courtney Pauroso, Tina Preston, Kathleen Taylor, Kira Nova, and Paul Outlaw.
Butcher Bird has worked with Reggie Watts many times before, including in 2018 on Crowe’s Nest — a fully improvised sitcom, streamed live online. Portnoy reached out through Watts to Butcher Bird Studios to bring GOING to life. Find the full list of collaborators on Portnoy’s Instagram.
Butcher Bird Studios is uniquely situated within the arts. From the beginning, Butcher Bird has produced avant-garde films, live performances, and other creative projects. We learn and develop through these envelope-pushing productions, bringing our flair for the new and unexpected to branded and original content.
